CHA Life Member Bob Ames Dies on 10/26/2009
Bob Ames, Life Member of the Cornell Hockey Association and long time hockey rink usher, passed away on October 26, 2009 at the age of 93.
Bob graduated from Cornell in 1938 with a degree in Ag Economics followed by employment with Cornell Cooperative Extension, College of Agriculture and Department of Communications. He also earned a Masters Degree from the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Communication, retired from Cornell in 1973 and was immediately named Professor Emeritus.
Bob served as an usher from 1973 until just a couple of years ago. He worked mainly at the rink entrance near the Zamboni door and loved the friendships developed over the years with the coaches, staff and officials, but more importantly the players and their families. Bob and his wife Eva were fixtures at CHA events like the Annual Picnic, Afterglows and annual banquet.
Bob's family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Eva Ames Memorial fund. c/o Cornell Hockey Association, P.O. Box 4265, Ithaca, NY 14852. Bob will be missed by all who knew him. He is a legend in his support of the Cornell Hockey program.

The Ames Family will be hosting a Memorial Reception for Bob on Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room, Friends Hall (across from Lynah Rink). It will be a chance for local friends and family to reminisce and recall some of your fond memories of Bob. We hope that you can join us for a time of sharing and light refreshments.
