CORNELL 5 | U.S. NTDP U-18 4 (OT) Box Score | Game Recap | Video Highlights
Over the weekend, we achieved a solid win in an exhibition game against the U.S. National Team Development Program Under-18 squad. We had an impressive first period, establishing a four-goal lead in the first period. However, our opponents made an incredible comeback, tying the game late in the third period. The highlight of the match was when our talented freshman defenseman, #6 George Fegaras, scored the game-winning and his first collegiate goal just three minutes into overtime.
While I was thrilled with the team’s achievement, I couldn’t help feeling disappointed when we allowed a three-goal-lead to slip away in the third period. Instead of maintaining our aggressive style of play, we gave a highly-skilled opponent more time and space. It’s clear this season will test our resolve and everyone’s patience.
Looking ahead, we start regular season play at Lynah Rink this coming weekend. We face off against the University of Minnesota-Duluth both nights. Duluth is currently ranked #11 in the country and holds a strong record of 3-0-2. [Cornell is ranked #12] This presents a significant challenge for our team and I’m looking forward to seeing how we compete.
